How the recommendation is built
The planning recommendation starts from an operational baseline of roughly one portable restroom per 10 workers for a standard 40-hour work week. That baseline is an industry planning convention used by rental operators — it is not an OSHA statutory minimum.
The tool then adjusts for:
- Peak concurrent crew size, rather than the total headcount across shifts
- Weekly hours — sites running 50+ hours per week concentrate more usage into the same equipment
- Multi-shift operation, which extends the hours between service visits
- Project duration, which changes what long-term servicing looks like
The constants above live in one configuration file, so the baseline can be tuned as real quote data comes back from providers without rewriting the calculator.
